BOSSIER CHURCH OF CHRIST

Everyone Is Welcome

We strive to speak where the bible speaks and stay silent where the bible is silent. Rev 22:19 "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book".  We are Christians.  We hold no denominational name nor practices. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, and we try to follow it as our only authority in our faith.  Like those at Antioch (Acts 11:26) we wear the name of our King. We accept Jesus Christ as Lord and respect His authority.  Jesus said, "And why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?" (Luke 6:46).  Adding to (or taking from) the simple instruction of Jesus is to fail to honor Him as Lord.  We have no conferences, synods, councils, nor earthly headquarters because Christ has not authorized these.  Also, such man-made systems only serve to compete with Christ's authority and often bind human traditions upon others, which Jesus condemned (Matthew 15:3-9).  If you are interested in learning about God's will for you, then visit us as we worship and praise God.

SALVATION

Salvation can be divided into 2 parts: God's offer and a person's response. God's offer is grace, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, that no man should glory" (Ephesians 2:8-9). The love God feels for mankind led him to send Christ into the world to redeem man, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). The life and teaching of Jesus, the sacrifice on the cross, and the proclaiming of the gospel to men constitute God's part in salvation. Without God's gift of grace, salvation is impossible. However, a person's willing acceptance of God's gift is also necessary to be saved. A person must comply with the conditions of the gift of grace, which the Lord has set forth in scripture.

To be saved, a person needs to:

Hear the Gospel. ◦"How shall they call on him whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:14) ◦In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation --having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise," (Ephesians 1:13)

Believe. ◦"And without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing unto him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that seek after him" (Hebrews 11:6) ◦"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." (John 8:24) said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." (Acts 16:31)

Repent. ◦"The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent." (Acts 17:30) ◦and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." (Mark 1:15) ◦The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

Confess Jesus as Lord. ◦"Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 10:32) ◦"Behold here is water; What doth hinder me to be baptized ? And Philip said, if thou believeth with all thy heart thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God" (Acts 8:36-37) ◦"that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;" (Romans 10:9)

Be baptized for the remission of sins. ◦"And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38) ◦"He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned." (Mark 16:16) ◦"Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name." (Acts 22:16) ◦"For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ." (Galatians 3:27) ◦"having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead." (Colossians 2:12) ◦"Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience --through the resurrection of Jesus Christ," (1 Peter 3:21)

Live a faithfully as a Christian. ◦"Ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9) ◦"You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved." (Matthew 10:22) ◦"Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain." (1 Corinthians 15:1-2) ◦"If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin." (1 John 1:6-7) ◦"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship." (Romans 12:1)

Have you obeyed the gospel plan of salvation? If not, why not today?
